Da Phuoc oratory – the Viet Nam’s biggest oratory in Da Lat

Located far away from the center of Da Lat about 7km to the East,  Cao Dai is placed on the quite and wind-swept hill about 10ha, around are covered by green pine which has created for the oratory a beautiful and dignified scenery, combined with religious architecture and natural landscape.

In 1938, Ngoc Ngo Thanh – a dignitary of Cao Dai, who is promoted by Tay Ninh religious society, it had to come to Da Lat to spread tenets and control in here. He chosed Trai Mat is where build the oratory, and step by step construct this place become the biggest oratory in Viet Nam.

 

About the overal architecture of the oratory, which was built according to the model number 2 of Tay Ninh Holy with full Triangle structure is: Hiep Thien Dai is ahead, Cuu Trung Dai in the middle and Bat Quai Dai in the back. Each areas has the functions and features the same like Tay Ninh Holy. But some of details in the decoration was changed, contributed to the dramatic accents for Da Lat oratory.

From Tam Quan gate follow the ladder extends from the base of front, the visitor wil be admired by the wonderful of green pine and te great flower across the road. The front yard is attracted by the highest pillar with 4 sides which is sculptured 24 “Vang” extend to the top, the top was decorated by Dragon God of emerald green. It is so amazing.

To enter the oratory, you have to step through five steps, this is a symbol of Ngu Chi Dai Dao and in humanity’s evolutionary step from the standpoint of Caodaism: human, God, Holy, fairy, and the Buddha.

Throghout the 5 steps is the Net area of Tinh Tam Dien. The front is the painting of Holy Cao Dai like the picture of Tay Ninh Holy. In the middle is called Chanh Dien of the behind of the picture of Tam Thanh Cao Dai, opposite the altar of God is the altar of Ho Phap.

Da Phuong oratory is not a place for the Cao Dai adherents, but also a place for the traveler visits and learn about this particular religion. The difference between this oratory and other places is the combination of the unique architecture of Caodaism and the elegent scenery, this makes the visitors become more and more peaceful.
